What does it take?

I've been told while we are incarcerated that it is a time to rehabilitate-to restore to (a normal state of life) by training after a period of imprisonment. I couldn't agree less. I've been focusing my life on reforming my life its behaviors and thinking process because in the passed its always lead to trouble but seeking drug counseling and any training has been fruitless. I've been on this unit for a year and can't even get into a AA/NA class excuse me "meeting" once a week due to lack of staff. There is no training here for anything other than how to verbally abuse "us" inmates. Our staff assaults inmates daily and cover it up by stating we were suicidal or aggressively violent. Then co-conspire to have their statements sound the same. The officers will state they are here for our safety (LOL). On the back of their caps is a slogan. Protecting Our Own! Go figure!

I just don't see in rehabilitating or effort offered and I do not want the public mislead by the system. I in no way have anything against the state of Texas. Its about honesty. I will say this I was placed in a class for Cognitive Thinking by volunteering. Its a class that is paid for by the government but its like this no one gets paid if no one is in the class. So its basically a political profit to be made. Fortunately I had a good instructor and learned a lot in class :) only because they taught not merely from experience but from the heart.

If only there were more people with the heart to care about what it is that they teach and not just books. Growth is from experiences shared and if we had officers that showed the slightest understanding they would have less of a difficulty with other inmates. Some just get a gray suit and it goes straight to their heads when they get a little authority. I guess I've gone on a little tangent. Look forward to your replies.
