Dear Readers,

Hello there. My name is Robert and I'm writing this to let you know us prisoners feel inside this side of these fences.

You see, I have 90 days with gaun time left until my release date. I should be happy, and, yes, I'm happy to be going home after all these years. But I'm also lonely. Do you know how it feels to have that lonely feeling? If you do, then you'll be able to relate to my pain.

I thought the closer I got to coming home that I'd at least start hearing from family and friends more than I am doing right now. Well, I wish I could say that was true, but I'm having a vice versa effect. There are weeks that go by that I never receive mail from anyone, even my own family. Can you even imagine how that makes me feel? Well, it makes me feel like crap and I wonder why I'm on depression medication, but I'm trying to make the best of this situation.

I can only imagine how people feel inside here with a life sentence, and I give my prayers and respect to those who have done all their lives behind these fences or hell hole. There's days that go by that I want to end all the pain and misery, but my inner strength keeps me moving on.

You see, I've lost all my close family to death, at least those who really cared about me. So can you feel my pain? If not, then try puttin' yourselves into my shoes, and let me know how you'd deal with the pain and misery.

I'm so sorry to hear about how lonely you are. It hurts like hell when we feel lonely even when we have people in our life who we expect to be helping us.

It could be that they're at a loss for what to say to you. I've been pretty depressed for a few weeks and I had a friend who just disappeared. When I confronted her, she said it was because she felt so helpless, and when she didn't know how to help, she just felt terrified of reaching out.

The onus is definitely not on you, but what would it be like to write to them saying that you're feeling lonely and worried about getting out and how it makes you sad you haven't heard from them?

Keep listening to your inner strength. The strong part of you is strong; call on it when you're feeling weak.
