RE: FAMILY REUNIFICATION DAY PROGRAM AT MCI SHIRLEY

Dear Supporter:

We are very sad to report that our proposal for a Family Reunification Day Program here at MCI Shirley has been denied at the institutional level. Obviously we are very disappointed, but we want you to know that this is NOT the end of the fight! We need YOUR SUPPORT for the appeal process, which we envision as being successful.

MCI Shirley has consistently been the level four, medium security prison in the state which is the least receptive to this type of positive family involved programming. We believe that this fact diminishes public safety and erodes the social fabric of our society. As such, the Christian men here at the facility will continue to work tirelessly to have programs like Family Reunification Day accepted here. They have been at other level four facilities.

But in order to do this, we need your help!

Can you please call and/or email the the following individuals and ask they do everything within their power to see that the appeal to overturn the institutional denial of Family Reunification Day is successful. You have the right to participate in rehabilitation. Please ask them to protect that right. Please contact:

Luis Spencer
Commissioner of Corrections
(508) 660-5900
lsspencer@state.ma.us

Kelly Ryan
Superintendent
(978) 425-4341
kelly.ryan@state.ma.us

Again, we need your support. We cannot succeed without you! It would also be helpful if you would be willing to contact Cardinal O'Malley.

THANK YOU!
