Real Talk

Redemption, Ltr. 70

Can somebody tell the world, not to be upset with me, for getting on this real shit, exposing the truth of everything that our oppressors don't want us to learn or to be told, because trying to explain to ignorant fools things they should already know ain't happening, as they was not educated in school about our true history & culture, is why they don't believe nothing I'm saying, because ignorance is bliss to them, an what these ignorant fools need to do is get off that idiotic talk & step out of the pits of their lower desires & elevate theyselves to a higher level of consciousness, or they must love kissing ass to our oppressors? It's messed up, that a lot of our brothas & sistas be having identity crises, as high yellow people want to be able to pass for white for a better life, by not caring or wanting to remember where we come from...They have a hatred for who they are & what they are, & wont date black because that is too ethnical, as they rather turn their backs to who they are, an strive for something they not...People can look at "Tiger Woods & Raven Symone," that act confused about themselves, but one thing they can't hide & run from, and that's the image of their blackness even tho they mixed, they on some other bullshit...People always try to imitate us blacks, from trying to get a tan, fuller lips, & enhancing they breasts & bootys, to dressing black, talking black & acting black, but they fail to realize they can't be black, or know the truth about our history & culture, and the continuous struggle we on...People want to be accepted in our black circle, but look down on us, if we try to holla at they women, because they wanna act down with us, an if you look around you'll see that the younger generation doesn't acknowledge racism in this crazy world, because in the most racist states you see interracial couples going to the prom & getting married, they don't see racism as some of us experienced it...The reason why, is a lot of our family never taught us our history & culture, because they either did not know, or wanted to bring up the burden of the past to us, because racial injustice will always be a part of life (our life), an it's a shame when we as black people loose our true identity & then people go around lying & distorting our true identity to keep us in the dark, as I run into a lot of mulatto people don't wanna hear the truth, in needing to know how important it is, for us black people to know our true history & culture...

I liked what you said about reaching a "higher level of consciousness" while I was transcribing your post (Redemption, Ltr. 70). This is something I sometimes feel like people aren't trying to reach. Your letter has given me a perspective to think about.
