LET THE TRUTH BE KNOWN

For all of you who have read the earlier message left by truejustice4victims (otherwise known as the uninformed informant), please allow me to share with you the truth as to what has put me here in prison serving a life sentence. One point I would like to bring out is, I have never tired to camouflage or disregard the reason for which I am in prison. The reason I have never brought it up before is simply because nobody asked. So please don't allow this person to persuade you into thinking that they have opened up your eyes to some kind of secret about my life. If you wish, you can even look up on your computer and watch an interview I did with Inside Edition. I believe it was aired on March 16th 2004. This interview was not done for the purpose of receiving any form of financial compensation, but rather, to answer their question, "what would cause a man, who after living a criminal free life for over 31 years, to suddenly commit a crime as tragic as murder?" I guess I should first familiarize you with the mental illness she had experienced for a period of time, in a mild manner, years before we even met. Unfortunately, about a year into our six year marriage, this same problem returned at a much higher level. The problem is known as Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (O.C.D). It relates to or is characterized by a tendency to dwell on unwanted thoughts or ideas or preform certain repetitious practices. Well, the unwanted thoughts and ideas that were controlling my wife was that everything was contaminated with germs that would cause us to catch some kind of disease. Notice I use the word us. This was not some kind of illness that controlled only mu wifes life, but the lives of everybody around her as well. When we read our uninformed informants message, we see that the murder was carried out simply because I was annoyed about her constantly washing her hands. I'm sure this must portray a picture in your minds of the husband sitting back watching T.V., while his wife is going in and out of the kitchen every five minutes to wash her hands. Then, after a few years, he finally gets sick and tired of her doing it and decides to kill her. Our uninformed informant fails to include the fact of how my wifes problem required us to conduct extensive amounts of specific, step by step, proceedings to do anything. Whether it was getting dressed, taking out the trash, getting the mail, taking a shower, or any of the other activities people perform in the midst of their own home without a second thought. The next statement this individual makes, concerning the fact that I didn't just leave my wife, once again shows their ignorance to everything that happened in regards to the matter. On three occasions I had finally just had to much. So I would tell her that she could have to houses, have the cars, take everything we had. Then I would start walking away. But it wasn't that simple, because each time I tried that, she would try to commit suicide. Three times I had to save her life and come back as a loving husband to try to help her through this overpowering condition that controlled my wifes life. I can honestly say the thought to kill my wife never crossed my mind until I saw her trying to commit suicide a couple times as a way of an escape from her O.C.D. problem. I guess by seeing that, it gave me the idea that I would be putting my wife out of her misery; otherwise known as a mercy killing. And the thought to set everything up to appear that a criminal had broken in and killed her while robbing the place, wasn't only a way to clear me from getting into trouble, but also to clear my wife from ever being labeled as someone who committed suicide. The next issued I wish to clear up, is the persons statement in regards to me not being able to provide more for my family. First let me clarify that the only child involved was a son she had from a previous marriage. This was a grown adult, already living on his own. So my family consisted of just my wife an I. Now, I'll admit, all we had was a house in the city, a townhouse we rented down form the beach, two cars, and one van. Now I don't know about you, but I thought that was pretty good for a guy under 30 who had graduated from college only a few years ago. Oh, and the reason for my wife taking me to work was due to the fact hat out two cars, in her eyes, had some how been contaminated and were no longer usable. They drove just fine and her son even asked a number of times if he could have one instead of just letting them waste away. So the only vehicle we used was the van. And since she didn't have a job to go to, she wanted to have it on hand while I was at work, incase she got he courage to go somewhere. In closing I would just like to say, I am not trying to use this message to justify the crime in which I committed. I realize that what I did was wrong and I'm truly sorry for the negative effects it has caused. I have also accepted the punishment that has been adjudged to me, and am not working on my case to try and beat the system by way of some kind of loophole. So now that the truth has been made known, let me end with the rather famous quote, "And now you know the rest of the story.:"

Good Day,
Eric M. Wilkes
