Jamie,

16? God, you made me feel old. Ha ha! Anyways, that Jesus joke: heard it all my life so you're cool with me.

Know that I appreciate your comments. I love receiving comments from young people the most. Because keep in mind that I was just a year older than you when I first got locked up. So if through my poetry I can influence you to do something positive in your life, that's all I can really ask for.

Seriously! Print my letter and hang it on your wall!

That's a beautiful compliment. I wasn't expecting that. Thanks. About the writing: truth is you can write like, if not better, than me. But you have to be dedicated because it takes a lot of practice. Now I can write quickly and not mess up as much. However, when I started back in the day, I messed up a whole bunch. I mean, I was terrible. But perseverance pays off. So practice.

I wrote down your name step by step so you can start with that. Hope it helps.

Much respect,
Jesus A.

Start with these first: a m i e

Here's a simpler J. Start like this. ( then bring down the () then you go up J. Start with your name first. Then we'll move on. Also try practicing the lowercase letters first to build a little rhythm.

Don't be discouraged if it looks ugly at first. Remember that a diamond starts as carbon.

Take care. Be good. With respect,
Jesus A.
