A Lifers Dreams

"A Lifers Dreams"

My dreams
Emitted mist
From the nozzle of a spray can
Foam spilled
From the lips from a chela
Dark smoke
Flowing off a blunt

My dreams
Engravings on chipped walls
Shoes over wires
Overflowing waste
In trashcans
Blinking lights on corners
Bikes on flat tires

My dreams

Yesterday's leftovers
Graves without flowers
Time without hours
Lifeless encounters
Life of a lifer

That's what my dreams
Have become

Hello,

I just wanted to say that I really like your poems.
I never really cared for written poetry, I just enjoyed listening to poetry slam, but I feel like I have to overthink that. :)

Also, your writing looks beautiful. Mine just looks like the scribbling of a 7-year old.

Best wishes and greetings,
Jamie

Hello Jesus,
Somehow saying that feels weird. Like I'm praying... And I'm not even religious. Sorry if that was inappropriate, haha, I feel like you must get that a lot.
Yeah... I never really read anything. And the interpretations of really old poems that we did in school kinda scared me off.
But I'll definitly countinue to read yours. :)
I get what you mean with the fancy stuff. It looks kinda pretty and is impressive when you understand it, but especially when reading a poem that's not your mothertongue.. It's hard.
So thanks for not giving me a hard time and writing straight up! Haha.

Whooo, you taught me a new word. Penmenship... Didn't know that. But it'd be nice to be able to write as beautiful as you. Seriously, I could print your letter and hang it on my wall, it's so pretty, haha.
Did you have to train that a lot? And how long does it take you to write a letter like that? You're probably full-concentration-mode, right? :D Since there aren't any mistakes. I'm really impressed.:)

Haha, no I'm not an old woman. Would be funny though. I'm just a little 16-year old teen. :P
And no I don't do poetry slam myself, I'm really bad with words to be honest. I just enjoy listening to it from time to time.

See/read you soon. :)
Jamie

Hey!
Oops, sorry for making you feel old. :P You're 29, aren't you? Hope my math is not off... (Like it always is, haha)
Mind if I ask where you come from - I mean, nationality?
How old are the people who write you on average? Sometimes I feel like I'm the only young person who visits this site when I read through other comments, haha. I told some friends of mine about the betweenthebars "project" and one was actually quite interested in it, but they're mostly to lazy to write something. Siiiiiigh. :P
So you have been arrested with 17 the first time? Daamn, for what? Since when are you in the prison you are in right now? And for how long are you going to stay?
Haha, I think I'm doing something positive with my life already. :> Actually, I'm thinking about studying psychology and becoming a psychiatrist - because I want to help people.

Youre welcome!:) Say - can you draw as well? People who write pretty can often draw really good.
Thank you so much for your "step by step" instruction! Really sweet. My friend actually gave me an idea. It's impossible for me to send handwritting letters to you by mail, but maybe I could scan them and let the lovely betweenthebars-team print out the pictures for you...:) I wrote them a mail about that, let's pray that it's going to work!
I mean, leaving aside that handwritten letters are more fun and also feel more special, it would also be great practise for me. :D

I'm looking forward to read from you again~
Be well!
Jamie
