RE: RETALIATORY DENIAL OF VISITORS

Dear Commissioner Turco,
On Saturday, September 3, 2016, a citizen who came to visit me here at MCI Norfolk was refused entry to the facility and now has been told that she is "barred" from visiting me. Just prior to my coming here to MCI Norfolk a friend of mine who had visited one time was told she was "barred" from visiting due to "administrative reasons." Members of your department can offer any unplausable excuses for these barrings, they fall on deaf ears here, but the fact is that these barrings are in direct retaliation for my activism work and will be actionable in the future.

I have less than one year until sentence expiration. I am attempting to build a community foundation for my return to society, but your staff are barring my visitors. No one from the Department of Correction, I reiterate NO ONE has spoken to me about reentry. I am trying to work on it myself, but your staff bars my visitors. I am not allowed to work to save money for reentry, and I have been found guilty of NOTHING!

It seems the plan is to just thrust me out onto the streets, no money in my pocket and nowhere to go, without any friends to support me as they have been barred from visiting and hope that I don't act in a violent manner. Your department should be ashamed.

In the very near future, your office will receive requests from the media to interview me about this situation. Please approve them. But if not, one way or another, the story will get told. Your staff, with your tacit approval, has barred my visitors Julie Morris and Susan Mortimer, devoiding me of the ability to prepare for my return to society. It is unconscionable.

Please reinstate my visitors, order that I ma provided light duty employment, and have me enrolled in reentry services.
