Re: Reasonable Accommodation for Disability/Violations

Dear Commissioner Turco,

I am a disabled American under the Americans with Disabilities Act. My disability is "morbid obesity": 6'2" and 405 lbs. Due to my extraordinary size and the adverse bodily functions that go along with that disability, I require the reasonable accommodation of a single occupancy cell here at MCI Norfolk.

This is a reasonable request as there are such single occupancy disability cells (three of them) located on the cellblock I live (Unit 8-1). The problem is that these disability cells are being used for non-disabled "workers", and a man such as myself who requires this accommodation is being denied the cell. I offer this violates the law.

As such, as a remedy to any further action, I would ask that you instruct your subordinates here at MCI Norfolk to grant my request for a reasonable accommodation and immediately house me in a single occupancy cell due to my disability.

Thank you for your time and anticipated prompt attention. I am,

Respectfully Yours,
TM
