URGENT MOBILIZATION ABOUT INCLUDING MURDER
IN BILLS RAISING THE JUVENILE AGE TO 21

The current bills which raise the age of juvenile jurisdiction to 21 to NOT include those convicted of murder. We urgently need to have our supporters ask legislators to change this and to include murder in those bills.

You have been selected because we believe your Senator and/or Representative may be especially likely to influence such a change if their constituents (your supporters) write, call, email, or visit them. Have your supporters make clear to their legislators that, as constituents, they want the legislator(s) to lobby Rep. Carvalho and Senator Spilka to include those convicted of murder in their juvenile jurisdiction bills. It would also be very helpful if your supporters would to contact Rep. Carvalho and Sen. Spilka directly with the same message.

In addition, your supporters may wish to collaborate with the families of Justice Muhammad and Lonnie Watkins who are already engaged in this work on the street. Please see one or both individually to arrange this.

The two bills we are targeting to be changed to include juveniles convicted of murder and then enacted into la are:
