Once again, I've been away for too long! However, I promise it was for a good reason. Actually, two good reasons.
Reason #1
In order to fulfill one of the wishes of my mother and to take advantage of my membership in the National Lawyers Guild, I re-enrolled into college. I am happy to say that, in May, I successfully completed a 3-course spring semester and currently I am taking a summer school course. Yes, trying to stack those credits!
Besides that, an opportunity presented itself that allowed me to enter Blackstone Career Institute's Legal Assistance/Paralegal Studies program. So I am simultaneously studying this field as well.
Reason #2
I have taken an advisory role at the divergent, fledgling publication, East Oakland Times (www.eastoaklandtimes.com). A brief East Oakland Times (EOT) "About Us" statement:
The EOT is an editorial publication centered on the well-being of the city of Oakland, CA, the home of the Panthers—in particular, the community of East Oakland. The EOT will place a notable emphasis on public safety, the expression of the individual (including those incarcerated) as a citizen, libertarian values, along with the arts and culture.
And that's just the beginning! At the moment, EOT's website is being revamped, but continue checking here or on the site for progress. PLEASE SUPPORT OUR MISSION TO GIVE VOICE TO, AND EMPOWER, THE THROWAWAYS.
