Poetry became my vehicle to express my feelings on paper when I felt under pressure. Poetry allowed me to transform myself and travel to another dimension where I could walk freely when I do not have a place to go.

I will be sharing some of my poems written in prison in this chapter to further express the pain and concern I have experienced while being incarcerated for the past three decades.

My artistic expression was done to reach out to the Spanish community at large. Also, to tell Americans that I am a good person, regardless of my past mistakes in life. Rehabilitation does exist. I am a human being filled with hope. I would expect that one day someone will recognize that people can change in prison for the better.

I would like to open the curtain of my artistic life with the following poem: Green House Omega. This poem deals directly with the greenhouse effect and the earth's atmosphere, and the results of serious environmental problems that we have today. It appears to me that the more intelligent and sophisticated we become in our technology, the more hazardous waste leaks into the rivers and oceans. Another environmental problem is carbon dioxide emissions that continues to enter the atmosphere in higher intensity as the world population grows.

This environmental poem further deals with the futuristic ideals of creating a contingency plan to counteract deforestation, urbanization, and the taking of agricultural land for development. The world would become chaotic by the year 2025 or 2030, when the natural balance of the forest's oxygenation and the world's oxygen supply become unstable.

i strongly believe that human beings will have a military confrontation regarding control of natural resources in the future. Asia is over populated, Africa has been overrun by Europeans and famine, droughts, and diseases for many years. Europe does not produce year-round agriculture products and is too over populated. Central America, South America, and Australia are areas that contain many untapped resources. I can foresee an environmental war between North America and Europe for the areas that can supply natural resources.
