BRCI PRISONER ART SHOW

On February 27, we'll be having an art exhibit here at the Character Based Unit (CBU) at Broad River Correctional Institution. Visitors will be coming form all over SCDC and the state.

And, of course, I'm curator over the whole thing!

Students in my art 101 and art/hobby craft program have already finished about a dozen works and have a couple of other dozen in the works. The problem is, right now the CBU is on lockdown due to some crack and meth-head gang banger activities. Unfortunately, this program is entirely devoid of its shares of ghetto-drones. We just don't have as many as the other buildings. The drones here have a leader who manages to keep his hands clean. He's on the other side of the building—EVERYONE knows what he really is—but he shines in their eyes as a necessary evil, I suppose. The best thing for the program will be his departure—which is said to be soon. He's waiting a drop in custody level and a prison transfer.

I hope that we get off the lockdown soon because this throws a big hairy monkey wrench into the art show (no pun intended). And I'm sure that once we come off, everything will be expected to run as smoothly as if we'd never been locked down!

But that's okay. I can throw this whole thing together in no time. The show will go on.
