Update! Six U.S. States Join the Fight to Ban Electroshock on Children

As many of you may know, the American Psychiatric Association is asking the U.S. FDA to allow them broader use of electroshock "treatment" on children, stating to the FDA that "Having access to a rapid and effective treatment such as ECT is especially meaningful in children and adolescents."

Many find this hard to believe, but the fact is no one is actually monitoring how many children are currently being electroshocked - except CCHR International.

At CCHR we have filed Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests (which many of you have helped fund, as the cost $$ to obtain) with nearly all U.S. states, asking for the age breakdown on those receiving electroshock, including children. We have uncovered a large number of states currently electroshocking children, including those aged 0-5 years old.

We are still in the process of obtaining the funding to fulfill the FOIA requests from numerous states. But in those states where we were able to purchase this information, we sent the results to legislators in that state, documenting how many children were being electroshocked, along with our model legislation to BAN ECT on children and adolescents. The results have been precedent setting!

Already, 6 states have responded that they want to introduce legislation to BAN electroshock on children and one state has already introduced its bill to ban this brutal practice on children!

Also, with CCHR International's assistance, the NAACP passed two resolutions; one against electroshocking children, and one against the mass psychiatric drugging of children and adolescents.

As you can see your donations are producing ACTION. All of this is part of our new Fight For Kids campaign which is the launch of a new global movement to save our kids! This will include a new website and social media platform containing all the information that the public and legislators need in order to take action on behalf of children to prohibit the drugging and electroshocking of our children.
