Thank you so much for your comment.
Prior to incarceration I worked in public safety and my job necessitated my involvement in politics, though it was mostly on the local and state levels. I've never met a politician that I agreed 100% with, and I admit that my views are more liberal than Senator McCain's.
So, like you, I often had "mixed feelings" about his positions on many issues, and I certainly did not agree with him all the time. That being said, I have ALWAYS admired him for his devotion to public service, his integrity, his family's unity, and his military service. Politics aside, John McCain was simply a good man who put service above self, stood firm for his beliefs, and expected us to stand firm for ours, even if we disagreed wit him
It's not so much the legacy of Senator McCain, the legacy and example of John McCain the man that I feel we can learn so much from.
Finally, you mentioned being with Sen. McCain on his efforts to stop the inhumane treatment of detainees. I'm including a recent email circulated by CURE about working with Sen. McCain to ratify the ACHR. I hope you'll consider supporting CURE's efforts to ratify the ACHR since you said that's a cause you agree with.
Thank you again for leaving a comment. I truly appreciate it.
