The cat pawed the bird
Flipping it into the air
The limp body
Somersaults from paw to paw
Mindlessly the cat played on
While an onlooker spied the moment
Wind gave flight to loosened feathers
Some landing on water and canoing downstream
All are fitted with an earthly clay suit
It's a picture all life takes—its death's protocol
