TITLE: COURT BATTLE

I have not done any updates to this blog recently as I am working in a very tight "court deadline" window. I'm still not so sure if this blog is very useful, or what things I should talk about. Unfortunately, I have heard advice from law folks that anything I say on this blog can be twisted, and used against me. The other side of the coin is that all our mail is monitored so anything I say related to "prison treatment" or officer issues can cause a lot of suffering for me in my day-to-day conditions, living quarters, job or school availability etc... For the most part if you stay within the rules, keep out of the way of knuckleheads, and let the officers do their jobs, no one messes with you and things can remain fairly stable. And you can't say too much about inmate activities because if it leads to any trouble, then you become a "snitch" and that can mean certain violence from other inmates. As in warfare, I have to choose my battles. Right now I am focused on my court battle, everything else is secondary. Some GREAT NEWS to share with any veteran, or families of veterans... Finally! The V.A. has been authorized by I.D.O.C. HQ in Springfield to conduct an "education class" on PTSD and related veteran issues here at G.C.C.! What a HUGE step forward and I imagine this could have a tremendous impact on veterans across the country if it proves to be a successful program. I just hope and pray no politics get involved that could hinder its success.

I REALLY NEED SOME HELP, AND NEED THIS INFORMATION BY DECEMBER 16 (12/16/2011) TO BE USEFUL TO MY COURT BATTLE (I'm calling in a 9-Line for ammo). In Illinois they enacted the "Veteran's Courts" which is titled under PA 096-0093 (Public Act) initiated from HB4212 (House Bill) in 2010. I DO have this copy. What I really need is 3 things: COPIES OF;

1) The FEDERAL BILL that initiated the veterans courts.
2) The CALIFORNIA act (listed as AB674)
3) The NEW YORK act. I don't know the title, but N.Y. has the longest running and most successful vet courts.

Thank you to anyone who can get this mailed to me. My address should still be listed on the front BIO page of this blog. I am VERY THANKFUL that this blog has connected me with some old buddies and we have been writing by mail regularly. Let me know how I can improve my updates. Happy Thanksgiving all! What have you been "thankful" for?

Hello David --

I just wanted to post a note to you after reading your blog and let you know that what you post does matter. PTSD is a tremendous problem that I think the military is unequipped to deal with right now. I thank you for your service and I know that you have the support of your fellow Marines. I know a couple of people with PTSD including my ex-husband who will not admit it and the husband of a friend. I have seen how it makes people react in situations and it can be scary. I also laughed at the post about your birthday because I did the same thing this year - I was 49 or so I thought, but no I am 48 - somehow it makes you feel a bit better to gain a year! I hope that 2012 is a good year for you and it sounds like you have the core strength to get through this as well as support of a great group of guys who respect you. Take care and I will be watching your posts and look forward to seeing how you are doing.

Leslie
