Dear reader, 11-20-19
Hey! I hope you are doing well!
I would like to share my opinion of the impeachment hearings being held in my country (U.S.A.) right now. I'll try to summarize this in 2 pages.
The president of the United States, Donald J. Trump, is accused of withholding financial aid from Ukraine unless President Zelensky (Ukrainian President) states on live international television that he is investigating former United States vice president Joe Biden's son (Hunter Biden), and his involvement in any corruption the Ukrainian Energy Company, (Burisma) whose board he was a member & shareholder on, was involved in.
Now, after extensive and thorough investigations by anti-corruption agencies and the U.S. intelligence committee, there was found to be "no" corruption by that Ukrainian energy company or Joe and Hunter Biden. But yet, Trump wanted Zelensky to announce the investigation. This is Trump lol. Slander the character of your opponent. The U.S. ambassador to Ukraine Gordon Sondland testified today that it was definitely a quid pro quo but more importantly, after one understands the whole situation, it was clearly blackmail. Trump refused to release the already congress-approved 400 million in financial aid to Ukraine unless Zelensky announced the investigation. That's an impeachable offense. and if he wasn't the president he would be charged with a crime.
The Republican side of the House argues that because Trump didn't state it word for word he didn't commit a crime. But let's be serious... it's Donald Trump. A career criminal who's never seen the inside of a prison because he's extremely wealthy and is very intelligent. And would not be president if not for the Russian governments help/interference in the 2016 presidential election. He knows exactly how to convey what he wants without stating it exactly. You've heard of "reading between the lines?" well this is, "causing between the lines." And the House Republicans know exactly what's going on but they feel that if they admit to it it will damage the whole Republican party and cause them to lose control all around the board. House, Senate, and White House. They view it as a possible armageddon to their party. So instead of doing what's right, they bear the wrong & weather the storm. But I don't think they're giving enough respect to the intelligence of American civilians... so they may end up losing it all anyway. And they would have sold their souls for nothing...
Until next time
Yours Truly
Doug
