Earlier this year, California Dept. of Corrections and Rehabilitation issued a new mission statement, designed according to CDCR Secretary Ralph Diaz, to reflect the reality that most of those under CDCR' supervision will eventually return to society. This new mission statement reads:
"To facilitate the successful reintegration of the individuals in our care back to their communities equipped with the tools to be drug free, healthy, and employable members of society by providing education, treatment, rehabilitative, and restorative justice programs, all in a safe and humane environment."
This is truly a remarkable development evidencing a new era for CDCR. There will be many new rehabilitation programs available for the prisoner population to take advantage of in order for them to return to society better equipped to succeed. Remarkable times indeed!
For prisoners interested in receiving free correspondence courses to gain practical knowledge in How you can improve a relationship; How you can restore self-respect; What you can do to create a safer environment to live and work in; Salvage a broken marriage; Resolve a problem with drugs or alcohol; Help a friend whose business is failing; Where you can find solutions to theses and many other situations that people face in life. They're within these courses which your family and friends may also do free of charge. Simply by going on-line at http://course.volunteerminister.org. Prisoners may write to Scientology Prison Outreach - Volunteer Ministers, 101 N. Ft Morrison Ave., Clearwater, FL 33755.
For the Love of Truth.
