Hello Yall!
Just writing to share an accomplishment. I was recently informed that some of my writing will be published! (See letter APSC 4-24-21) Despite my incarceration, I still try to reach unincarcerated goals. Prison is a lonely place. You feel like the world is passing you by. So when you achieve a goal like this, it's validation that despite prison, you can still accomplish things.
If you know anyone who is locked up, send them a letter, a picture. Any piece of mail makes the receiving inmate feel loved, cared for, &/or like a million bucks!
Respectfully,
Michael Manjeet Singh
P.S. 2 recent poems
1) re: COVID (Illness overcome...& then some)
20 re: time in solitary (lost & profound)
* Hope u like! Feel free to write me! *

Dear Michael,
Congratulations, after a thorough review of all the submissions we received, we are excited to inform you that out of 12 of your submissions "Fighting the Power", "For My People", and "Something in Common We Trust" were selected to be published in the anthology! This is a huge accomplishment, and we're extremely proud of you, especially in light of all the challenges you faced and continue to face with COVID-19.
During our next phase in the publishing process, we will be moving to in-house copy edits which will serve as a final scan for any spelling and grammatical errors. We will send the final draft back to you for approval once we're done.
In the meantime, please fill out the enclosed consent form to give us the rights to publish your writing in our anthology vol.II, along with the consent please send us a photo that best represents who you are and a short bio no more than 3-5 sentences.
The photo of you doesn't have to be a prison photo, it can be a child photo of yourself or one that you think that best represents who you are.
The bio should be between the 3-5 sentences: Name, age (if you want to include), where are you from? What is something about you that you want the world to know about?
Example:
Jake is 35 years old, from Los Angeles Ca. One of his greatest passions is basketball, when he is playing a game of pick up basketball he is at his greatest sense of peace. One of his hopes is to become a published writer one day and travel the world.
We are sending our warmest greetings to you and hope you are in good spirits. As always, if there is anything we can to assist you, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Warm regards,
Your APSC Anthology Team

I hope you're doing as well as possible right now. I've read all of your blogs now, and I really appreciate your work- this poem really impacted me as a young Asian American. I'm proud of you for achieving this goal, and you inspire me so much. You look great by the way! I'm glad you were able to recover from Covid. I hope to keep in touch with you! I'll be on the lookout for more posts from you.
Best,
Sarah
