Friendship
By: Precious

Throughout many years of experiencing on the meaning of a true friend, I have noticed that many people meet, and within hooves of meeting, call another friends. And in reality, don't even know the true meaning of the word friend.

A genuine friend is someone that can be trusted; someone who can be relied upon; someone honest and who always tries to be there for you. People are only human, and we all fall short of what we would like to be for others, but a real friend is someone you can count on and depend on at all times. Many see friendship as just someone they meet or have met for only a few hours or longer, not really even knowing the person. This type of relationship between two people being placed in the slot of a friend can lead to trouble. Friendship is built over time and tested, so over time, will bring out whether or not it's real, true, and genuine.

A real friend does not purposely take your feelings lightly, nor will they place you in a situation which could either get you hurt or cause you trouble. We should be careful who we call friend, especially in prison, 'cause there are those who claim to be real friends but really are only out for themselves. It does not mean we can't be friendly towards others, but we should know the difference between friendly and true friendship.

"Only time will tell, 'cause time brings about truth and many things. Study one's behavior and actions 'cause actions speak louder than words..."
