Re: UNSANITARY & DANGEROUS CONDITIONS at MCI SHIRLEY HOSPITAL

Dear Dr. Bigby,

Please consider this my formal request for the internvention of your office in a serious matter here are MCI Shirley which falls under the perview of your department.

I previously made a complaint about the fact that maggots were found in the adult diaper of a seriously disabled man here in the prison hospital, Rocco Romano. The complaint was addressed by the CSD/BEH division of the DPH, and I am extremely dissatisfied with their actions. Please find enclosed an assembly of the record from that complaint.

It is indicative of a much serious failure when maggots end up in the diaper of a man in a hospital. These maggots came from the serious malfeasant storage of hazardous waste in the hospital. Are we as prisoners supposed to be allowed to be subjected to maggot infestation of our persons? I must offer: ABSOLUTELY NOT! As such I must beg the full intervention and wrath of your office. Please instruct that a full investigation into this matter be conducted at once. This level of malfeasance will lead to the death of prisoners here. We must intervene.

Thank you for your time and anticipated prompt attention. I will be anxiously awaiting the response of your office.

Very respectfully yours,

Timothy J. Muise

Re: DANGEROUS UNSANITARY CONDITIONS at MCI SHIRLEY HOSPITAL

Dear Commissioner Auerbach,

Enclosed please find an "Assembly of the Record" concerning complaints that I made previously concerning extremely dangerous and unsanitary conditions existing in the hospital unit here at the prison.

My complaint surrounded the fact that and elderly and disabled prisoner, Rocco Romano, ended up with maggots inside his adult diaper due to the fact that hazardous waste had not been stored/disposed of in the proper way.

I am completely unsatisfied with the actions/response I have received from Amy Riordan of the DPH's BEH department in West Boylston. I ask that your office please compel a further investigation into the serious regulatory failures at the MCI Shirley HSU, and demand that a "spot" inspection br conducted, outside of the regular scheduled inspections, to ascertain if compliance is in fact existing. For maggots to get into a man's diaper SERIOUS failures and malfeasance MUST exist and I can not urge your office strongly enough to look into this matter in more depth.

Thank you for your time and further intervention in this matter. Lives are at stake when there are failures like this.

Very respectfully yours,

Timothy J. Muise

Re: SERIOUS UNSANITARY CONDITIONS at MCI SHIRLEY HOSPITAL

Dear Sir/Madam,

Enclosed please find an assembly of the record from responses I received to complaints I made concerning serious unsafe and unsanitary conditions in the hospital unit here at MCI Shirley.

The original complaint surrounded the fact that maggots were found in the diaper of one of the prisoners here, Rocco Romano. These maggots were from improper/illegal hazardous waste storage/disposal, and it is unconscionable that a patient's diaper contains maggots. A serious failure continues to occur here that makes these types of unbelievable conditions possible.

I herein formally seek the intervention of your office. I ask that you conduct an investigation into the conditions here at the facility. I also ask that you please provide for me any/all regulations that pertain to the hospital unit here so that I, as a concerned citizen, can ascertain if there exist any other failures of policy or force of law regulation.

Thank you so much for your time and anticipated prompt attention to this serious matter. I will be anxiously awaiting your reply.

Very respectfully yours,

Timothy J. Muise
