BEAUTY FADES -- BRILLIANCE SIMMERS
MY SECOND WIFE...
My second wife, Jaime, had two words to describe me:
BEAUTIFUL
and
BRILLIANT
I only had one word for her, heaven, and to this day it still applies, at least to when I knew her.
I'm sure it still applies today too, but I wouldn't know.
What I do know though, is, her words still ring in my ear every time I sit to write my vampire books. Books I think she would've been tickled to death to see me write back then.
I did have an old typewriter packed away.
Just never put it to good use; and tossed it to the curb when I bought my fiancee (before Jaime) a new house of her choice. During the move, it was just too bulky, heavy, and just, at the time, not of any use to me. I used my computer for everything under the sun just about.
If I knew then what I know now.
As the cliche goes.
But it's true.
Beautiful and brilliant, but not worth a societal dime.
Or, at least that's what the educationally-lacked think.
My outer beauty is fading, but what's inside shines like a diamond-star, and my brilliance gets magnified with each passing day, every book read, every thought contemplated, every sentence crafted.
My work is riddled with typos, especially these posts which are -- in fact -- first drafts, but my work one day will shine just as bright as what I feel inside. What I feel every time I think of my kids, and the women that I've had the privilege to love and to be loved by -- even if only for a moment.
