Please try and keep your chin up. Suffering from depression and anxiety myself, I know what it is like when you don't get your meds and things start caving in on you. I suffer from panic attacks when things are at their worst and it feels like I'm going insane (apparently a common symptom of panic attacks) and it's scary as hell so I sympathise there!
I understand why you were selling your meds but I really do not think that it is a good idea noting the tone of this letter! You are clearly having a bad time and missing your meds is NOT going to help things.
I am guessing that if you aren't able to work that you aren't able to study yourself in order to do the legal? Is there anything else that you are good at that isn't going to take it out of you that you could do to help get your legal work done? Some people can teach a language or some other skill in exchange....
I am not going to pretend to know how to deal with gangs as I have no experience of prison myself so would not want to advise you as to how to deal with it, except to tell you to stay strong. I can't imagine how tough it must be for you, but you WILL get through it if you stay strong. Easier said then done I am sure but there will probably be people in there you can talk to (even if it is no-one official, but perhaps another inmate friend?)
Start taking your meds again and stay strong, Donny. The mind is a powerful tool in getting through the toughest of situations, if you use it to your advantage! Get those meds and start making use of the most powerful tool in your tool box to cope.

This foot blog made me laugh a lot. It's pretty epic.
Something to make you smile in return, foot related (although I don't recommend you singing and dancing to it in there so try to resist);
Loose, footloose Kick off your Sunday shoes Please, Louise Pull me offa my knees Jack, get back C'mon before we crack Lose your blues Everybody cut footloose
Now it is in your head and should make you smile each time you think of it.
Best wishes from my UK size 3-3.5, US 5.5-6s (hence the LITTLE in my name, I'm a munchkin at just over 5ft tall)
For me personally, I think it is interesting to get a real life view of the inside, so observations are interesting. Also, we have different lives, other than the obvious, as I'm from the UK, so I always find it cool to hear from America anyway as you get a different spin on things.
I think to get more readers in, at least it works for me, make your blog stand out! You did some cool drawings on some of your posts which is what made me read them in the first place, as obviously there are a lot of blogs on here. You need something that grabs people and makes them want to read more of them. The content is cool, but the drawings tend to separate them from others and draw you in in the first place. Plus it is something you can hopefully enjoy doing, as I enjoy seeing them :)
The questions to make people think are also cool, as it gets people to respond. This allows us to see what others think, and for you to get something nice to read. Win win!
As for being offensive etc, I haven't read enough of your blogs yet (at least for my liking), but from what I've seen you haven't been at all, and the fact that you ask the question shows that you are a thoughtful and kind person who doesn't wish to upset people. *Thumbs up* I'm sure anyone who reads your blogs will know that too.
Real vs surreal... bit of both in the right context. Just write about what's on your mind/ interests you and I'm sure anyone who is/ is going to follow your blog will be interested and will reply. Make the blog as much about you as about the readers and I think it will be an enriching experience from both sides.
Got an answer to the question on whether all relationships are co-dependent. As its a bit too long I may hand-send the letter if I get the chance and the money together if you are interested.
It does include a bit of biology and sociology though (I'm a Biology student), so need to know if you are interested in this stuff or just want a brief summary that I can post on here to save me the pennies (I'm not working at the moment as I just moved so still job hunting). If you could mention on your next post (obviously with your financial situation I would never expect you to post an extra one in response so don't worry about that, but a quick nod in the next one you post would be helpful).
Cheers and nice blog! If you would like me to transcribe any either, that's very welcome as I obviously have some time on my hands currently so I'm willing to do that if its wanted.
I only wish I could include your beautiful annotations and associated drawings alongside any transcriptions :(
If you put a little comment on the next one to tell me whether you would like me to go back and transcribe them as far back as time will allow me, I'll make the effort.
I very much enjoyed transcribing your letter. I actually found it helpful and very soothing.
I am currently suffering myself from depression and anxiety. I'm 22 and have had depression they believe since I was around 12, so it isn't an easy habit to kick!
I'm also recovering from a significant amount of heartbreak, even though the relationship ended around 2 years ago and I am very happy with my current partner (ignoring the obvious depression...).
I was actually having a terrible night re-streaming old memories and worrying about my return to university (I'm taking a year out to recover as things got so bad I could no longer maintain myself never mind my studies), as this is where it all went wrong this time and I hurtled down into the pit again. I came onto the internet in search of charity work to put my problems into perspective and to aid my recovery (to kind of, get some level of normality again) and came across this site. I have actually got my CBT books beside me!!! I do not like to use the word 'fate' as I am a scientist, but it is a very happy coincidence let's put it that way.
Your letter was a great help, as I need to make the future brighter and remember that it does not matter what happened in the past, I can still have a happy future. I will keep it in mind when I find myself struggling again!
Very pleased about the book idea! I hope it works out. There are a few psychiatrists and therapists in England that I have worked with personally who I know have had people close to them involved in drug/alcohol abuse which led them to their profession. As the road of drug and alcohol abuse can lead to the road of imprisonment, they perhaps may be interested in your cause.... Although I do not know if this is a bit far out for you...?
Would be very happy to transcribe any more posts for you and hope they continue whilst you are there. Again, best of luck with the book.
Choices - to do something that's easier than something else that might be better or harder - they're so challenging. I try to remember that the pain and fear I might have making the harder choice now is nothing compared to the emptiness I'll feel when I make the easier but worse choice later. I don't know if that's helpful at all. Sometimes I'll also ask myself: is this the me I want to build? Is this building my spirit? Best of luck Robert.
