Your upbringing reminds me of the various forms family (or lack of it) can take. I know some "families" are families in name only, even though parents and children live together in the same household. Conversely, there are some families that are shining examples of everything familial love can be, even though its individual members are living far apart. It's a lot about the effort we put into "being together" -- where the "being together" need not imply physical proximity. I think your letters are a striving toward "being together". I believe this is very admirable. I see what drives you comes from what you experienced with your father. He might have been telling the truth, but it can be difficult to prove without the hard evidence. You can think of yourself, I suppose, as collecting evidences of your love -- a case for genuine connection. This is why you use the word "prove". I think you are winning the custody case for your daughter's affection before the Court of God. Keep thinking and praying about her.
The case about the volleyball player is inspiring. I like to collect stories like these, to remind people that they can persevere. You might have heard about Charles Krauthammer. He is a neoconservative commentator, who writes columns and frequently goes on television shows. While a student at Harvard Medical, he jumped off a diving board in a bad way. He was left paralyzed from the waist down; he consequently uses a wheel chair. The fascinating thing is, I watched him growing up, and did not discover his injury until years later. He was always confident on air. You would have no reason to suppose he was sitting in a wheelchair. He did not let his injury stop him. President Franklin Roosevelt has a similar story with polio. You could not tell he was in a wheelchair while giving his speeches. One of the most admirable is Stephen Hawking -- his struggles, like FDR's, are very well known. On the other hand, there are many people who are physically fit, and yet mentally destroyed. They take their own lives so early. It's important to pray for our mental and spiritual strength, to enjoy the small things coming our way.
That's all I have for now. At the very least, this latest election cycle has been interesting. I hope it is keeping you occupied in productive thought. Let us know what you think about the 2016 presidential race, if you want to. Take care for now, and write back when you can. --Calhoun25
I really enjoyed this piece. It's always fascinating when you look at a popular and thought provoking quote by a former leader and read the overall context from which the quote originated. You get a deeper meaning that is relevant to all human beings, the fact that we all have the right to protect ourselves because we all are worthy of life. This makes me think about Tupac's phrase "Thug Life". Many people use this phrase, but don't really know where it originated from, and the depth of what he was saying. His "Thug Life" meant "The hate that you give little infants fucks everyone." The hate that's taught to youth in the ghetto is only going to backfire and everyone will have to deal with it. This definitely relates to the Portrait of a Nigga song. I'm jumping all over the place in thought, but anyway, I heard this quote from someone, "No one can define you unless you give them the power to do so. If you don't know who you are, then anyone can make you believe that you're something that you're not." I think these are powerful words. Thanks again Xzyzst, for kickin' the knowledge.

With respect to the time and climate of the United States from which our wise elder spoke, I recognized that he had the presence of mind to not say Black, or Negro in this comment because he had an understanding that human beings come in multiple shades, intellectual, mental, social, and sexual orientation, and that the federal government itself has proven that it is either unable or unwilling to protect the lives and property of those human beings. It greatly disappoints our youth when we fast forward to 2017 and the federal government, our communities, and prison yards remain enslaved to hang ups’ that continue to stagnate our progress towards peace and equality, straight up. I’m not one of the same religious faith as our beloved prince of the earth that spoke these words, however, how can I not love a person that put everybody on blast when it comes to who’s really being viewed as non-human. For us to continue to move toward becoming a true unity of one, it would behoove us all to recalibrate our own personal dispositions on the issue of what is equally human, and denounce idealized supremacy. I will concede to admit that as an adult I slipped back into the mindset of hatred of most non-black people, and yet proud to announce my second recovery 13 years ago, good to be back. In fact, it was this comment by our genius Mr. X that reminded me of the lesson he taught me that day, in a juvenile detention center cell.
I believe and teach that every human being has the right to self-defense.
The translation for me is super clear;
1. “No group or individual person has the right to mistreat me, cause me harm, or treat me less than human.”
2. “I am not a slave to the supremacy ideologies of no other man, no matter what color his skin is,” “not even if his skin is black.”
3. “Self-defense doesn’t constitute a declaration of war against all non-black people, specifically all white people, and if I must chose my friends carefully, I also maintain my right not to choose enmity.”
4. “What is human can only be defined by nature, and not by the megalomaniacs of our species, it doesn’t matter where they roam, in a government agency, in our communities, or on some prison yard, and sometimes these individuals occupy each at the same time.”
5. Never allow people to paint or draw me in the image of their imagination, I am also human.
“Any human being, anywhere, is well within his right to do whatever is necessary by any means necessary, to protect his life and property, especially in a country where the federal government itself has proven that it is either unable or unwilling to protect the lives and property of those human beings.” Mendacity (n) - 1: the quality or state of being mendacious 2: an untrue statement made with intent to deceive: Lie (fabrication, fairy tale, falsehood, falsity, fib, lie, prevarication, story, tale, untruth, and whopper. As a kid I remember this phrase being used in the tune of, a sort of declaration of war against white people, and other times straight up FTW. I mean, you name it, ole boy “Super Black”, the T-shirt, phrase, “By any means necessary,” written on the front. I remember being in juvenile hall, and noticed what looked like a ripped up magazine, and one of the pages had the above 4 lined paragraph statement on it, all 4 lines, not just the 4 words. And I was shocked by the first 4 words of the portion of this comment that I had never seen before, or even knew existed. “Any human being, anywhere.”
Alright, I got u! Did you get my pics? I sent it through pigeonly.com. I heard that you got a visit from your dad, Rashawn, and Tim. I know that you enjoyed their visit. We gotta make it out there to see you. I don't even remember if we are still clear to visit. I will have to put in my PTO request ahead of time. I know I'm super late on this. I'll get to it. Love you! Until next time!
Plagiarism.............the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own.
And Muise isn't too subtle about it either. In the Norfolk Chronicles he has simply scrubbed out the authors name and added his own. He will probably be using the title for future bile laden blogs. The lowest of the low!
