I think there was obvious racism in the way that TM was profiled. And, Zimmerman probably scared him. And, Zimmerman shouldn't have had a gun. And, he didn't need to get out of the car.

That said, I don't know that TM didn't turn around and jump Zimmerman. If he did, that's not standing your ground (not legally). If he took a swing at Zimmerman, well, legally he started it. Even if he was scared.

I just don't know.

It is a sad situation and a young man is dead. And, it's Florida - a state I know well. So, it's not like anything good (in terms of justice, reform - or even a healthy conversation about race) is about to happen.

Hi Kiyoshi,
Beautiful poem!
I will write you a letter soon. I hope I will get a project started to give a few prison poets the chance to get heard and read in social media.
I would love to feature your work!

You will hear from me in some weeks!

Best wishes,
Kat
:)

Just something for you to read hope you like it not very good at writing :)
WHAT COULD'VE BEEN IN LIFE
In life we all make choices
Sometimes finding ourselves asking "what if" and
what could've been.
In life people leave us
Sometimes asking what if they didn't leave
what could've been
In life we fall in love
Sometimes asking what if they don't love me back
In life we all have needs and wants
Sometimes asking what if I need and want too much
In life we all deal with the loss of someone special
Sometimes asking what if I can't deal with it
In life we all have exciting and joyous days
Sometimes asking what if it's the last one we have
In life we all have to make choices
Sometimes causing others to ask what if they didn't make
that choice and what could've been?

Hi Rob!
Interesting article. Thanks for posting it!
It's been a while that I heard from you. :)
I hope you are doing fine and survived the heat.
I'm waiting for your response to my last comment. But it was sent on July 29 to you and the last thing you wrote here was written by you on July 14. So I guess I have to wait a bit more.
Today is aug 22. :)
I hope you got a letter from Sonja. :)
Have you got your job back or another job?
You know I live in Sweden and here the summer is on his way to... I don't know where it is hiding. Lol! We have some nice late summer days but when I read that it is really hot at your place than I wished a little bit of this heat could come to this part of the world and join me. :)
Yeah! Soon is skiing season! At least something good with the winter is that I can go skiing and ice skating on the lake nearby.

I'm sure you read a lot of books. What is your favorite author? Which book read you recently? Can you get books from a library?
The last book I read was "the glass castle" by Jeannette Walls. Maybe you know it. It's about a girl who is breaking out from the social environment she was born in but struggle with the bounds to her family which holds her back. But at the end she gets free and decide to live a completely different life than her parents lived. The book describes her childhood and how she had to fight to survive each day. It's a very gripping story.

That's all for today. I just want to sent you a "hello". :)
Keep your head up and your heart strong!
You will hear from me again.
Ciao!

I read your comments on "the hole" with great interest. It must be hell to get up in the morning and know that is what you face for the day. You say that you have limited education, but you also show a lot of common sense.
What exactly is your legal situation? Are you in for life? Do you have any possibility of parole? As I mentioned before, I remember your crime vividly, because a friend of mine lived in the apartment complex where it happened. It was a terrible act, but you seem a lot wiser than that kid who I remember seeing on the news being taken away in cuffs.

Wow. I haven't read a poem this moving since Robert Frost's "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" (I'm being sincere here). Dum spiro, spero, right? Maintain a clear mind, and keep up the fantastic work. Never stop gazing ahead; yield not to the past. Can't wait to read your next output.
