Collateral Damage 3/26/13

Have you ever been pepper sprayed? I'll presume the majority of people haven't.

Yesterday around 6:00 p.m. a wave of the stuff came into the cell. Now the amazing thing about this is that nobody in the section I'm in got sprayed! It was somebody in another section. As one that was in YA and got sprayed with more than one type of pepper spray, this one by all accounts takes the cake. I had thought my cell-mate farted but it was the spray that had gotten to me. Choking, I hurried to cover the bottom and side of the door. For a second I thought I was gonna pass out. Right after the guards hurriedly left the building. It ain't no surprise that when you have society's discarded "citizens" carried off to a place with no oversight (the overseers... guards) will do whatever the hell they want. Talking with someone, we realized that we really are the mercy of our captors. The public has little access to the realities of what goes on in prison. The same goes for the media.

I have no idea what caused the incident but does it really take a "chemical" agent to subdue somebody? It seems like the "pepper-spray" collapses your lungs 'cause that's exactly what it felt like. Yet, the abuses continue day after day.
