Don't Rush! (pt. 2) May 2, 2013
We all want to be loved and appreciated for who we are. And when it doesn't happen on our timetable, it's tempting to rush into another relationship hoping it'll make everything better. But we fail to realize there's no Prince Charming to sweep you off your feet and make you happy with yourself; even when the first part of the story seems to go well. Sleeping Beauty wakes up to discover her prince is just a common frog. We can't expect a person to give us what only our heavenly Father can provide. Mere mortals, even with good intentions, can never come close. When we pin all our hopes and dreams on someone else we're bound to be disappointed....When we sell our souls in an attempt to attain the unattainable....the cost is high and the potential for peril is steep. Don't let obsessive desire lead you down a path of despair....obsession is powerful. It fuels fantasies and drives you to reckless behavior.....We won't find love till we love and respect ourselves enough to stop looking for someone or something outside ourselves to give us worth. One day Jesus met a woman who'd been married five times and was pursuing yet another relationship. Recognizing that her need was not for another man, but a relationship with God, He said, "No one who drinks the water I give will ever be thirsty again." Jesus saw her real need and restored her sense of selfworth. Bottom line: for me, a woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ that a man as myself should have to seek Him first to find her.
