TRAITOR OR PATRIOT

"The duty of a patriot is to protect his country from its government." - Thomas Paine
"He who dares not offend cannot be honest." - Thomas Paine

What embarrassment government officials of the U.S. are going through with the continuing release of documents by former NSA worker Edward Snowden. Now the government is in a fury to downplay the leaks and cast Snowden as the disgruntled employee. But what's surprising? That people are being watched? That your calls are being monitored? Like that's something new.

Now we see senators & pundits alike overstating that these intelligence programs are to catch terrorist and people who will do harm to "Americans". Some are even calling him a traitor and accusing him of treason. Why, this fellow is the most patriotic if I don't say so myself. What person will risk his life to see a wrong righted? Especially a imperialist power as the U.S.A. To see to it that the citizens of his country knows exactly what their government is doing? "A very popular error: having the courage of one's convictions; the point is to have the courage for an attack on one's convictions." - Nietzsche. And so Snowden, this traitor of a man as some call him, didn't side with his government but acted as a man of integrity to stand opposite of it.

Edward Snowden is now in the likes of heroes as Bradley Manning, who a while back enlightened the world to the crimes of the U.S. government. Yes, crimes! Of course they don't want you to know about this stuff, it'll be a PR nightmare!! People who should care don't. Most don't bother to ask why? Since "people" "elected" their government officials in a "democratic" voting system they can go about their business and leave politics to them. Good luck... look where it's gotten us.

"Pity the nation that has to silence its writers for speaking their minds... Pity the nation that needs to jail those who ask for justice while communal killers, mass murderers, corporate scamsters, looters, rapist and those who prey on the poorest of the poor, roam free." - Arundhati Roy
