So What

*DO WHAT*

So much anger
Anger hidden behind smiles
Stop laughing for a week
and you'll see it

so much pain
pain buried beneath routine
lie motionless for a week
and you'll feel it

So much time
time spent worrying about ourselves
visit your gravestone once - it's there
then leave it and love
someone else

So much and it's never enough
so long we spend without buying
so he left you because you're not good enough
and you're mad he can't get it up

So you're coming down and she's going up
another massacre down south
more bodies found in trunks
up north.

So you're mad this minute
horny this minute.
So you cry
die each night like the rest of us
and grumble and shove before mornings'
pick-me-up

So she's dying and he's born
so much sun never enough stars
neon never pretty enough at nightly bars
tires flat, hurting back, veneral disease

Pall bearer, flower girl, ex-prisoner
so you sit smoking a menthol
mad at your neighbor smoking reds
S's and R's tumbling from your lips

Hands gesturing, eyebrows raising
stomach trouble and tooth aching
so I'm hated, so I loved
so I push, so I shoved

So you brush your teeth
so the floors you sweep
so you raise your kids
so you killed your kids

So much we so seriously do
so that no one will see us as different
it's all forgotten by tomorrow anyway
all that's remembered is the difference

So you didn't fit in
so you fit too good
so the world keeps spinning
the sky is the oceans mirror
