When I Close My Eyes

When i Close My Eyes

When the sun sets no candle
can replace it,
and without her by my side i can't act
like i'm complaisant.
i know there's something missing
it's just better to pretend,
that i'm not that broken person and
i haven't lost my friend.
Because when i close my eyes i
can always see her face,
and daydream that we're together
even though that's not the case.
The past is what i dwell in
because my future's not so bright,
she was my morning sunrise without
her there's no light.
So as i close my eyes to picture
we're together,
i pray to God to keep them closed so
i can be with her forever.

Hi Kiyoshi,
Beautiful poem!
I will write you a letter soon. I hope I will get a project started to give a few prison poets the chance to get heard and read in social media.
I would love to feature your work!

You will hear from me in some weeks!

Best wishes,
Kat
:)
