I'M FEELING UPTIGHT
I've been incarcerated a little over four years. In that time, I may have seen two Africans and one Oriental. Why is that? Do they know something that we don't? Are they doing something that we're not? Is it something that we can learn from them?
I was just listening to a brethren down the hall. He was asking another how to spell simple words. Example: so, when, etc. He appeared to be young by the rest of his conversation. I've heard and seen these types of actions so much that they sicken me. One would have to be blind to see there's something terribly out of place. I'm pointing my finger directly at drugs! You can't sell them if there's no one to buy them. You can't buy them if there's no one to sell them. A two-headed coin, huh?
I just heard someone who could barely read or write. Hearing this makes me feel uptight.
Being in group where there's only two white.
Seeing this makes me feel uptight.
Being in a group and all the counselors are white.
Seeing this makes me feel uptight.
Giving hearings and the inmates don't fight.
Knowing this makes me feel uptight.
Eating food, taking a chance with each bite.
Doing this makes me feel uptight.
Knowing staff could care less about what's right.
Knowing this makes me feel uptight.
Going to bed with a ceiling's light.
Doing this makes me feel uptight.
Thinking of future plans while I'm so uptight
Is the only thing that makes me feel alright.
