How much sense does the shutdown of the government make? The only the impasse is going to accomplish is the hurting of local economies wherever Americans depend on the income of parks etc... It's been stated in the press that workers would be paid retroactively for being furloughed. Then why penalize the people? California had a similar problem when it came to passing a budget and legislators continued to get paid, while average citizens fell behind on their bills. Guess what? The people voted for a law that does not pay legislators until a budget is passed. Even from where I am sitting it makes our government look insensitive to the realities of everyday life for the regular people. I'm Paul behind the wall... 10/6/13
