The Novelist Portent
ON THE OCTOBER OF JOHNNY MAHAFFEY
This year, I pretty much did the same as always:
I ate my usual box of Swiss Cake Rolls, and made
my usual "nice dinner" for the day. This year,
my dinner being my own style of Phillie Cheese
Steak on toasted French bread, with potato skin
chips (cheddar/French onion) on the side, with
of course, Dr. Pepper!
All on my birthday, obviously.
And, I thought of my kids daily, especially
on their birthdays. : (I Miss them so....
Happy birthdays--Connor, and Ellie! Every
year. Don't think for a moment I'm not thinking
of you, or counting the days until we see each
other again. My imprisonment if temporary. I'm
just an old dog waiting for its day, and that
day will come, I promise.
And of course, I've thought of you too,
Jennifer. You know we're old now, right?
As for all the mail I'm getting, and the calls
to my family about my court status: I'll go ahead
and clarify some things here. I did go to court,
and things look to be good for me, as any educated
person would've guessed--it seems that you are
not suppose to tamper with a jury and expect
any ruling from a tampered jury to not be declared
a mistrial and illegal. So, now, it's just a
matter of waiting for the process to play out,
and a new trial will eventually ensue. A trial
that could, in fact, take a month or more as
things are done as they should've been, if I'd
had adequate legal representation the first time.
I do have a charge on me from the county
that I plead guilty to, and will max out on its
sentence in about a year and a half from today;
and once that's out of the way, and the mistrial
is officially declared, I'll return to the county
for a bond hearing--of course an ankle
monitor will most likely be required until my
new trial. So, cross your fingers people, I could
be on my way home, soon. But, of course, all
of this is to be expected--I'm not guilty, so
therefore it's only a matter of time! Those that
believe otherwise have my forgiveness, and pity.
I was never actually convicted, nor was I guilty!
The new trial is years away--but its coming.
