Who Decides Who?

WHO DECIDES WHO?

When can a man be beyond salvation
Too ? in sin for an excavation
And be "written off" as a total loss
Beyond the redemption found at the cross.

And who decides who that man should be,
That's beyond the blood shed on calvary?

How about someone who persecuted the church,
Sending Christians to death from a lofty perch-
Which one of us would have the gall
to banish such a man as Paul?

How about an adulterer
Who sent a man to a sure death-
In order to claim his wife
After he'd taken his last breath.

If such a man was so ill-favored
What would have become of King David?

What of a man who took a life in a fight
Then fled like a fugitive into the night-
Would he be banished as one supposes
What would have then become of Moses?

What of a man who would deny the Lord,
Of course that man would be deplored-
Who, 3 times before the cock could crow
When questioned claimed he "did not know".

When can a man be beyond salvation
Too deep in sin for an excavation
And who decides who that man should be,
That's beyond the blood shed on calvary.

There was once a cruel slave master
Who did his talking with his whip-
And when he'd whipped some slave to death
Would simply toss them off his ship.

If such a vile man faced a firing squad.
Perhaps we'd all like to the shooting job.
But then who would have taken his place.
And wrote the words to "Amazing Grace"?

You see that "Vile Man" was John Newton

"Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but now I'm found,
I was blind, but now I see."

The blind, the cripple, the hopelessly lame,
The penitent sinner, his head bowed in shame-
The addict, the boozer, the 3 time loser,
He promised to love all the same.

He did it for you and he did it for me
When he came to set the captives free.

"Whosever will"- He said,
Just call up His name,
He promised to love all just the same.

Thank God that we are saved by grace.
And not by the opinion of man
Thank God that we are save by the blood,
Not by some church, or the Vatican.

So-Who decides who should be free, should be bound?
Well, it's "Amazing Grace" how sweet the sound.

Glory be to God.

wow I really enjoyed your poem. It is very inspiring. We all make mistakes and no one is perfect but when we come to God he does not look at who we were without Him but who we are in Him.
