Listen

Listen closely, my beloved friend, to the soft whispering wind
Hear how it bears my thoughts, my love, and prayers for you
A subtle wind that knows all we've been through

Listen closely and you'll hear this heart every beat
as they soar upon the wind
The messenger of my soul kneeling before your feet

Feel them as they dance before you
My thoughts, my love, my prayers
accompanies you in all you do

Listen closely, my beloved daughter and friend,
to all that soft whispering wind
Riding upon it you'll find a gift
especially for you
A love and friendship without end
for this heart long ago you stepped in

This piece I wrote long ago for my daughter, Sarah. Since my last entry, she has parted from this world, and all I enter this day is in honor and in memory to her.

She flies now with her own wings
The spirit rests among the stars

Beautiful and bright were your precious smiles
Your laughter a warm blanket of love
In the darkest of days; my guiding light
Surely you were a gift, a blessing from above

Ever near in heart and soul, your love for me
Never faltered
No matter how rocky the roads of life or turbulent
the winds of change; father and daughter, the best
of friends, Our bond never altered.

My beloved daughter and friend you have always
been; my little sidekick; my precious little pumpkin
through thick and thin.

That hearty laughter, those warm, glowing smiles
The heavens know they've helped me walk through
some dark and long treacherous miles
Now here I sit, torn, cold, and all alone
My beloved daughter and friend, from this cruel
world I've just heard, you are now gone.
Without you here—my pain grows without end
Among heavenly host I'm sure you now reside
forever in my heart you'll ever abide
As among celestial shores I know you now dance
The brightest star I have no doubt, sure I
could spot you with but one quick glance.

Oh, but the pain! So unfair, so tragic
your sudden departure
No warning, not one sign, deep within
the pain—my heart sure to rupture.

What I'd give for one last talk, simple idle
chat
One last chance to hold your small hand
to discuss your ideas, your dreams, or
to design some new tat.

To hear that warm and loving laughter,
Oh, my dear—that beautiful smile.
My precious daughter, beloved friend,
What I'd give to sit with you again—
Oh, just for a little while.

My Dear David,
This is a beautiful tribute to our beloved Sarah. I love you so much and I am so glad you have returned to blogging. I can't think of anyone I'd rather read a blog from.
I miss you so much it aches. There are times when I just can't breath.
This is the first of my responses.
Just know I love you always and forever
Your Zahra
