Exploitation of A Few Rotten Apples

As an activist, there are few things the government or courts do that doesn't disgust me.

For example, the killing of American borne Anwar Awlaki was celebrated around the country. But since when did the president gain the unilateral authority to kill Americans while abroad? Now don't get me wrong: Awlaki was a bad person who deserved capture and maximum punishment. But what sort of precedent has now been set? We murder "foreign terrorists" yet ban assassinating the leaders of foreign governments. And now we murder Americans in foreign countries but not in America. This is madness, that the right-wing talking heads love to justify because as long as we are killing "them", it is okay.

But who defines "them"? And where does the line get drawn to stop? This is why murder is wrong.

The state sanctioned murder of Troy Davis was no less heinous that when a "blood" murders a "crip." The state sanctioned murder of Awlaki was no less heinous than when our citizens die in terrorist acts.

I'm sure some would call me a liberal or some other derisive term the right-wing neocons are so fond of, but you know what? I once read about eyes in the sky, agents in the libraries, death of those deemed "undesirable." It was a book about Adolf Hitler and the SS. The parallels to predator drones, the Patriot Act, and Awlaki remind me of that book.
