A blessed New Year to all!
Before Christmas I was given back my old job in Industries. What a great blessing! Most admirable is that the managers kept their word to give me my former position. Until it happened - I didn't count on it because often staff will sabotage an inmates success just for spite or power. What a great and positive example to experience first hand.
For the 2nd year, Willow Creek Church has sponsored Christmas gifts for every inmate and officer. This year, the entire state was sponsored! Over 40,000 inmates in the State Prisons and another 20,000 in Count and Juvenile Jails, wow!
On New Year;s Eve every inmate in Graham received a hat and pair of gloves!
I don't know who blessed us with this, but it is very impressive.
Most important we have peace among officers and inmates. A good year!
2016 hops to improve with a proper State budget and some "corrections" to the State Courts "justice" practices. I've heard over 200 laws were signed and in effect on first of January. Everyone is anxiously waiting for some news regarding I.D.O.C - Especially in "programs" returning. Programs deal with healthcare, college and job skills training. GrahamVets is a "program", and perhaps we'll see some additional support.
I've enclosed "The Calling" which was posted up in the chapel last year and was admired by all. The man who write it, Richard Valadez *Rick) is hoping his son will see the gifts his father is using.. His son is Darwin Gray - Mike S., actually a step-son who he has not spoken to in many years. When a family is angry and turns away - it is a most terrible anguish. A heart ache that can never heal.
Let's pray for a good 2016...
Let us hope true leaders will rise up.
David
