NGR vol, 2.

The Ventilation System:

One of the many definitions of the word vent is:
"to give vigorous or emotional expression."

Welcome to NGR vol, 2: (new generation rising).

Over the past few years, a portion of American society
believes that it is now time for a conversation
with Law Enforcement Agencies, The Church Community,
and so-called, "self-appointed leaders in urban cities.

More times than not, we get a view of the talkers,
and who they are talking at, about the 'How to," and
"what to do" when innercity youth are engaged
by the police, yet there exist no forum for
American Youth to ventilate themselves, and there
is nobody willing to listen, nor act on behalf of
our youth, leaving the air of America, stale.

Resolve is ignored during onesided conversations,
and until young people are heard and not controlled,
America will continue to build Museums that are filled
with generations of people, stolen from society, before
They needed to be heard, in their real time.

Please join this ventilative session along with Americas
innercity youth, who are now adults on California
Death Row,and have experienced first hand, all sides
of this ongoing horror of bloodshed in the streets.

A forum for vigorous, and emotional expression is deficient
in America, for all, so welcome to a new generation rising
above silence, it's your turn to circulate fresh air in America.

NGR vol, 2.

I have been commissioned to produce Volume #2, of
the Write or Die Zine Projects presentation of our
new multi-media zine series titled NGR.

NGR, New Generation Rising Volume #1 is developing
organically, and a lot faster than we expected, and
Piankhi, the host of this condemned Row Creative
Writing Project here in California, is setting a new
standard, for what we hope will inspire more
incarcerated Americans to become more engaged,
and innovative in the production of prisoner zines.

For example, NGR vol, 2 is unapologetically written
in terminus verses, specifically about the horrific
climate in American streets where black lives
still don't matter.

What you are about to read, are the complied works
of hand selected, chosen few, from Californias
new condemned population, which will make up
the content of the NGR vol, 2 zine issue.
(no clean hands)
This project is personal to me because when I
was a child, I also took the life of a black man,
on the innercity streets of America, with a gun,
and by default, and with great horror and
shame, qualifies me to produce this work.
I am no journalist here, I am without clean
hands, and I'm obligated to allow the
voices of my past speak through the
spilled ink of our contributing writers for
this issue. So find a mirror. There are No Clean Hands.

If we are wrong for killing each other, we are 'all'
wrong for killing each other, and this work
is about continueing to provide open vents for
us all to be free to speak from our souls, and
listen to each other with clarity

I specifically asked each contributor to vent,
I told them to think "Black Album", which is
an off kilter representation of the mind of
predominantly musicians, and hip hop society.

Those of you that may be moved to transcribe
these works, will engage this opus, that comes
from 2 place within pockets of urban culture
where cameras and reporters, politicians, and
even most police and parents are not so
welcomed, the innercity streets of America, The Hood.

This issue is four pronged.

#1. Terminus Verse: The Ceremony

These appear in Poetic, Spoken Word, Rap and
Sing Song form. Written, produced and arranged
by each contributing writer. Our ultimate goal
is to find a willing soul in society that can
provide a phone number (collect calls only), that
allows us to recite these works into what we
envision as the Paper Audiolink. Those of you
interested in providing resources to achieve
our audiolink vision, leave a comment at
the end of this post, help stop the killing.

#2 Interviews: The Rhyme Ciphers

I chose 2 of California's Condemned Youth
to create a hiphop society rap cipher
in an exchange of verses that are specific
to the theme of this issue, also providing
commentary directed at how we perceive
the growing climate of current events in
the USA.
1. @Golgotha w/ Young Wild (in session)
2. @Golgotha w/ Joker (in session)

#3 The NGR Verses: The Eulogy

Those of you that will read the first
chapter of the NGR verse: for the first
volume of NGR, know that we chose
a few victims of police murder and
wrote eulogizing verses inspired by 2
worthy ancient Egyptian text.

Here, we present Chapters 2,3,4, & 5.
The emotional reality for us is that, we
regret to understand that every 28
hours in America, a new name is
added to the long list of victims, and
it is our belief that through the
new leadership of American innercity youth,
that we will no longer need to write
anymore of these chapters, in due time.

#4 Bloggers Comments: Papco Group Bloggers Weigh In

We want to enclude the words, comments, advice,
and opinions of our bloggers that review
this material, especially those of you that
use the transcription feature to transcribe these
works, and thank you by the way.

Your comments at the end of these post
are vital to the over-all conversation and
incite into how venting from ones soul
can provide broader perspective over
the journey of this work, so we encourage
all of you to add your two cents by
leaving a comment, and know that you
don't need to agree with our work, your
opinions and comments provide clarity towards
a new vision of just listening, being recognized
as a skill, can't wait to read your comments.

Thanks for writing! I finished the transcription for your post.

I just wanted to say I agree with what you're saying in terms of being heard. It's amazing how many professionals like to opine about the prison experience, when in actuality, you guys in there are the ones truly EXPERIENCING prison, ffs! Out here, we're getting to the point where we're tired of recidivism, tired of our imprisoned loved ones being abused for nothing, crazy sentencing biases, ad nauseum.

I feel for you guys. My son's in Ohio 15-life for killing his baby. They called it murder, I called it involuntary manslaughter but i'm a MOM, i'm supposed to be biased and gentle on my own.... trust me, I'd love to belong to the team that hates my kid. It'd make life so much easier for me. Imagine what it must b like to be me? It's frikkin horrible.
But even bigger horror is the baldfaced MURDER going on between law enforcement and blacks.
If nobody will listen when the space is provided to blast what's on your mind, its their fault. Blablablabla and then they do what they want anyhow. On each side of that wall, my friend, there is pressure building toward the center. Something has to pop soon. Have faith, stay strong.
