REAL TALK - THE VIEW OF A CONNECTICUT PRISONER Vol.1 No.4
By Richard Stevenson
GREETINGS FREE WORLD! I'm finally able to get back to the writer. Don't trust government? So what can you do about it? Simple, utilize the Freedom of Information Act, aka FOIA. It's easy to use. Just ask and I'll explain it.
This past week I was able to participate in a UConn study. It appears that they would like to see changes made in D.O.C. that would make things safer for older prisoners. So they are looking at those of us who are over 50. I really hope that their recommendations are adhered to.
Have you ever written to the United Nations? Check their general catalog out. They have a lot of good reading. I've written to them on several occasions. I highly recommend the Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Charter of the United Nations.
If there is something that I would recommend for ALL to read it is the Citizens Rule Book. I'm sorry I don't remember who I obtained it from (I've had it nearly 20 years). This is something you need to read BEFORE serving on a jury because the prosecutor nor the judge will allow the defense attorney to educate you on your rights contained in this booklet. It is hoped that you will remain ignorant of these rights while sitting on a jury panel. If any defense attorney attempts to educate you any time you are serving be sure that the prosecutor will strenuously object, a mistrial will be declared and that lawyer will be held in Contempt of Court and thrown in jail. So I emplore you to learn your right as a juror for the sake of liberty. One day it will be you or someone you know who will need their jury to be thus educated.
So how do you like your national politic? I sincerely believe that our president is trying to erase everything that our previous president achieved in addition to implementing what he truly believes. What's your opinion?
Rich.
