ABOUT US:

Progressive Christian Women (PCW)

Was officially organized February 18, 1998 to give Christian women the opportunity to exercise the spiritual gifts and talents that God gave to them, to uncover new talents, to encourage unity in and among our churches by 1) Respecting one's gift regardless of their gender and 2) Tearing down the walls of partition that separate denominations.

PCW added a nursing home ministry and sponsor a service at Vero Beach Consulate in 2009. Dr. Harris published a newsletter. She, along with Evan. Earnestine Grier have a Radio Broadcast "Getting to Know Your Bible" which began in 2008 and led to prison ministry in 2011.

Have Faith in GOD

I would like to take the time to thank you for your interest in this newsletter. I appreciate the letters that I received from each of you that wrote to me. Thank you for your words of encouragement.

Thank you Gary Fields for the beautiful poem "Hold On" and Timothy Owens, Sr. for matters from your heart to God. Anyone who has lived long enough have had a period of time in their life where they wondered if God heard them. I've been there, in the valley of despair that Gary talked about, but held on and I'm glad I did. I've inserted a prayer by Renauld Wilman. Thank you Renauld.

Rev. Dr. Frances Harris, Pres. Progressive Christian Women Author, Broadcast Minister, Associate Minister New Testament Baptist Church, Inc.

FAITH
God's Antidote for Anxiety

Volume I Issue 4

Hold On by Gary S. Field

I've been down in the valley of Despair
Where a thousand tears are shed-
Way down deep in the Valley of Despair,
Where my faith was like a thread.

That thread of faith was my road to hope,
And I held on in desperation-
Until I wove that thread into a rope,
It was "The Hope of My Salvation".

At times it seems I've been to hell and back,
But I've come back with a testimony-
The Lord was there to pick of the slack,
And never once did He leave me lonely.

There's death and doubt, and yes-despair,
Down in the valley, as everyone knows-
But I've come back with a word to share,
It's to the Valley that the river flows.

In the darkest part of that valley,
I came across the "River of Life-
A fountain that was flowing freely,
Amid that barrenness and strife.

Way down deep there in The Valley,
Amid the darkness and despair-My
spirit began to rally,
When I realized that the Lord was there.

He was, right there beside me
The 'Shepherd' that I'd heard of-
To comfort, lead and guide me,
Into the light of the Father's love.

So hold on if you make that journey,
To where the bitter winds often blow-
With his rod & staff He'll comfort you,
No matter where you may have to go.

"God, Can You Hear Me?" by Timothy J. Owens, Sr.

Dear Heavenly Father,

As I sit here and wonder, God do you really hear me? YES! I am a sinner that is saved by Grace, and a saint that occasionally sins, and misses your mark. For ten years of prison I've truly come to realize I've failed and made many mistakes: So God, Can you still hear me? As Your child, I'm crying out to You as a baby cries our for its mother. My soul, spirit, and body, (1 Thessalonians 5:23) needs to be sold out to You. Oh Lord, my whole being would love to walk together with You, and for You. Oh Lord, all my causes and reasons I bring unto You as my Lord and Savior.

Lord, absolutely nothing can be done without You, Jesus. Miracles, wonders, and signs are seen, and heard from You, that we as the household of faith will continually trust You. Oh Lord God, we must go out into the highways, and the byways to compel men and women, boys and girls witnessing of the Truth of Your Word. Wherefore let us comfort one another with these words that God does hear us, He hears our desperate crying, and delivers us from our own destruction.
"Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, He saveth them out of their distresses. He sent His Word and healed them, and delivered them From their destruction."
Psalm 107:19-20

Faith IS NOT KNOWING WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS, BUT KNOWING who holds the future.
