November is Homeless Youth Awareness Month. Nationally, between 1.6 and 2.8 million youth experience homelessness each year. In California alone, an estimated 200,000 youth under 18 are homeless during the year—15,000 of which are unaccompanied (without adult guardians). Among these, 82.5 percent are unsheltered. Many end up in jail or prison, sometimes as a result of homelessness,
