Subject: 60 Days Plus
It's just over 60 days at Kewanee Life Skills Re-entry Center, and my hope for a successful transition back into society has increased 100 fold. I hope this model of prison reform will continue to be implemented and improved.
At the last facility, my hope regarding my leaving prison was very bleak. It seemed that there were so many hurdles, roadblocks, and intentional goals set in place so you would fail.
First two weeks here, I saw a light at the end of the tunnel. Between the staff, the program design, and the volunteers/teachers coming in, my hope has improved 50%.
By the 40 day point, I began to feel more human again. Began to speak more normally. Started to let my guard down some.
Now three weeks into a business class, and I have renewed confidence that I WILL SUCCEED!
