A great day for veterans.
Senator Tammy Duckworth dropped in to visit us today. While we only have five vets here, I was able to plug in Graham CC, GramaVet group which is now over 100 vets.
It is a great honor to meet the senator in person. She was very interested in our experiences. She had a great suggestion that incarcerated vets might support local area veteran funerals by playing live bugle call of TAPS. We are going to work with the VFW to see if this can begin next month!
I was able to bring up Mission 2018 and access to VA healthcare while incarcerated. Also, the serious issue of VA housing support for vets instead of using only the state halfway houses.
Promising visit.
