The Mississippi prison system is in a state of crisis unlike anything I've seen in the past 20 years. Transparency and oversight ended in this state when a federal court ended a consent decree several years ago. MDOC then went back to its "old ways" and that resulted in the current crisis.
Until there is consistent transparency and independent oversight, our prisons will continue to be inhumane.
I'm thankful that people like you expect and demand better of our institutions, and that you recognize the dignity and worth of the humans therein.
