Another Frivolous Lawsuit and a Real Example of Voter Fraud

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filled a lawsuit in the United States Supreme Court
alleging that the elections in 4 states were fraudulent. Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Georgia and
Minnesota voters all chose Joe Biden for President which gave Biden a majority of electoral
votes. Today, as I was writing this essay, the news reported that the court rejected the lawsuit.
What is shocking is that 2 justices dissented. Justice Alito and Thomas apparently wanted to
help Trump steal the election. I have not read the decision so I don't know the specifics. I would
like to thank the seven justices who were in the majority - especially the three Tump appointees
who chose to do the right thing rather than kowtow to the person who appointed him.

President Trump refuses to accept that he lost and has been doing every possible thing he can
think of to usurp the will of the people to get 4 more years in the White House. Amazingly,
hundreds of his fawning sycophants have backed him in his unprecedented attempts to steal an
election. Hundreds of Congresspersons and State attorneys general have signed on to the
Texas lawsuit. For them, maintaining power in government is more important than their integrity.
The last time an organized group as unscrupulous as the Trump cabal attempted to impose
election results contrary to the will of the people was before the Civil War. I read a book made
available through Google's Gutenberg project which described the attempts to force Kansas to
become a slave state in spite of a large majority of its citizens opposing slavery. Excepts from
the book follow.

SLAVERY AND FOUR YEARS OF WAR
A POLITICAL HISTORY OF SLAVERY IN THE UNITED STATES

"The first election in Kansas was held in November, 1854, when by fraud and violence,
Whitfield, a pro-slavery man, was elected delegate to Congress. Non-residents from Missouri
cast the majority of votes at this election. Though not of the requisite population, this was
regarded as thee opportune time for Kansas' admission as a slave State. Douglas in his report so
recommended."

"A majority of this committee, July 1, 1856, reported, showing in most conclusive way that
frauds and outrages had been perpetrated to control the several Kansas elections."

"Presidents Pierce and Buchanan successively appointed governor after governor of their
party-Reeder, Shannon, Geary, Walker, Stanton-all of whom resigned or were removed
because they each failed to support or endorsed the determined and fraudulent efforts to make
Kansas a slave State against the will of the majority of the resident people."

"At an election, where for fraud and violence nothing thitherto had approached it, and by the
special feature of ballot-box stuffing (actual settlers generally being driven from the polls when
willing to vote), this Constitution was returned adopted by about 6000 majority in favor of
slavery."(84)

These are just some savory bits from the book. The book is available free online. Download it
and read it for yourself. I wrote in a previous blog that Republicans are the ideological
descendants of the Southern Confederacy. Trump's and his allies' latest actions have once
again reinforced that premise. Please note that not all Republicans are like Trump. The
Republican elected officials in Georgia have stood up to Trump and defied him in refusing to
invalidate the election results even though those results were in favor in Biden. I wonder if those
Georgia officials still support Trump? Perhaps his recent actions have woken them up to what
kind of person he really is? One can only hope so.

You are either an ethical, honest person who acts with integrity for the good of everyone, or you
aren't. Look in the mirror and decide which one you think you are. Then look at your actions to
see whether you are acting in conformity with who you think you are. You may be surprised to
find that you're not one of the good guys.
