Thank you, Father John, for the transcription and for your prayers.

Earlier this month MDOC Commissioner Burl Cain announced that MDOC was going to stop doing business with its current private for-profit food service contractor. According to Commissioner Cain'sinterview with the media, MDOC will resume in-house food preparation effective April 1, 2021.

Hopefully this will be an important first step toward improved food in Mississippi's prisons. Nobody is arguing for "five star" gourmet meals in prisons, but clean and adequate food that provides adequate nutrition and is safe and healthy to eat is a necessity.

I am cautiously optimistic that, under Burl Cain's leadership, Mississippi's prison system may be moving in that direction.
