Thank you "Mr. Service" for your comments and for your sentiment that ALL humans - even prisoners - should have healthy, nutritious food.
When prisons contract with private, for-profit companies to provide essential services such as food service or medical care, the result is almost always inadequate, unhealthy, and substandard services.
The company's goal is NOT "service", the goal is PROFIT.
moreover, many prison systems simply do not provide adequate oversight of private contractors such as food vendors, so prison leadership often has no idea how bad the food (and other services) really is. And frankly many of them do not care to know. If they did, there'd be oversight and enforcement of prevailing standards.
