Who Do You Know?

Carl
Carl lost both legs in a horrific driving while intoxicated accident. Jeff, the other driver, fell asleep drunk behind the wheel of his car. Jeff's car hit Carl's car. Jeff walked away easily from the accident. Jeff's father paid for the best lawyer in the state. Jeff was 18. Most people thought that he deserved to do hard time. But Carl, a year and a half later at Jeff's sentencing hearing showed up and testified on Jeff's behalf. Why did Carl testify on Jeff's behalf? He told the judge that at first, he was angry at JEff and this world. But then he put himself in Jeff's place, and he thought "If I was 18 and I caused his horrible accident," "What would I do with another chance?" If I didn't have to go to prison, what would I do? Carl said his answer was simple. He decided to try and help Jeff get another chance. HE also said that he believed he was given another chance. So he pledged to help others by volunteering at various victims of drunk driving programs. He said that he wanted to show the world that although his life was drastically changed, his quality of life could still be great. Carl forgave Jeff. Carl became a strong and heroic advocate for drunk driving victims.

WHY HE IS PROUD OF AMERICA
Carl said even though his body was different, he could still do great things. As he looked at the opportunities in this country for disabled peoples, he realized that there are numerous opportunities to not only make a mark in America but to use it as a stepping stone to help disabled people around the world. He said that living in America grows disabled people enormous opportunities.
He is going to take advantage of every last one of them. Carl loves America. Join the America Power Network Monument so that you can make a difference in other people's lives by inspiring and motivating them to do great things.
