World AIDS Day 2012 is Coming Soon
Regimen by regimen, we are mobilized, and we are marching once again towards another World AIDS Day. Is it just me or have too many people living with HIV/AIDS become blenders? Those who camouflage themselves in the fabric of the passive masses. Comfortable and content with long-term health care management for themselves, but have not the force of will or fire in the belly to stand up and fight side-by-side with the very supporters and champions of their cause.
Somehow, I know that very thought warms the hellish hearts of every global pharmaceutical sycophant whom lines their pockets with payolla. Trust me, long life and good health are old carrots on new sticks. Maybe it's my misguided militance, but I have not once in the last 20 years felt the struggle against the viral tyrant was a battle to be satisfied to co-habituate or become domestic partners with HIV/AIDS> There must be an unified front. Together we are a wall. Nothing gets through us, over us, under us or around us.
We may reminisce about yesterday. We may daydream of tomorrow, but we have crossed the line of fire and entered into combat with HIV/AIDS today. We have to triangulate, regroup and move pass making nice with this insidious virus. And always first and foremost, let us honor the memory of every martyr as we shout, march and win.
